Hey TD!

We’re so excited to announce that Emily Chapman Richards and Shaoey Chapman will be with us LIVE at Virtual TD tomorrow night!  Since they are in Tennessee, we will start TD a little earlier – at 7:45 p.m. – and we will be moving to Zoom to hold our meeting.  So, please ask your small group leader for the link; you’ll also need to download Zoom onto your computer or phone.

We’ll also announce the total amount of money raised for V4V!

Emily and Shaoey are daughters to 5-time Grammy Award winner/58 Dove Award winner, Steven Curtis Chapman, and New York Times Bestseller, Mary Beth Chapman, founders of Show Hope.

It was Emily, who, as a young teenager, believed that God was calling her family to adopt (even though they had 3 biological kids already), and persistently told her parents so.  Eventually, the message got through to them, leading them to adopt Shaohannah (Shaoey) from China, for whom Show Hope was named after.  They then adopted two more girls from China, Stevey Joy and Maria.

Emily now serves as the Executive Director of Show Hope and has appeared on numerous TV shows and radio programs across the country.  Shaoey is a student at the University of Alabama.

See you at TD!

Hey TD!

Show Hope and the Chapmans (yep, all of them – Steven Curtis, Mary Beth, Emily, Caleb and Will from Colony House(!), and their adopted daughters from China) will be hosting a LIVE jam session with singing, chatting, and conversation about Show Hope from their home in Tennessee! Sounds like it’s going to be a blast!

It’ll be at 5 p.m. PST.  It will be heart-warming, faith building, and a lot of fun to spend time with them. They are a fun family! Here’s the link:

Want to Know What The Adoption Process and Journey Look Like?

“Welcoming Willa” video with the Veldkamp Family

Hey TD!

As we highlighted in TD on Friday, November is National Adoption Awareness Month.  Most of you raised your hands to commit to seriously praying about what God would have you do with respect to helping address the world’s orphan crisis.  I shared with you how God has used other teenagers within their own families to help change the lives of some orphans through adoption.

I don’t know what God has in mind for you with respect to the orphaned, but I do know that you are to be involved in helping the fatherless in some way, shape, or form.  As Mary Beth Chapman reminds, “Not everyone is called to adopt, but everyone is called to do something.”

So, we will be highlighting various aspects of adoption on our blog this month to help you get more familiar with the ideas, language, and culture of adoption.  From these posts and videos, and through your commitment to pray and then act as God leads, we look forward to seeing how God will work in you and through you.

“Not everyone is called to adopt, but everyone is called to do something.”

– Mary Beth Chapman

Today, we’ll be highlighting what the adoption process and journey look like … in 10 minutes … through the Veldkamp family!  Their journey was very similar to ours, as they used the same agency we did (Holt Int’l) and went through similar family prepping, paperwork, and logistics (both in the US and in China).  We even visited some of the same places and stayed in the same hotel!  And like us, they too adopted a treasure!

Enjoy and reach out to anyone in my family if you’d like to know more about the process!

TD Showing Hope to Orphans

Hey TD!

During Offerings 4, we showed some videos in an effort to continue to get us more familiar with the ministry of Show Hope and the movement to care for orphans (particularly those with disabilities) in Jesus’ Name, as TD begins its journey towards doing its part to live out true Christianity by heeding James 1:27’s call to care for orphans.

So committed is my family to do our part that my family plans to go to China this summer with Show Hope to visit the Kingdom work being done there at the care centers, especially Maria’s Big House of Hope.  We plan to get an “on the ground” look and feel of the work there, personally engaging with the orphans, staff, and ministry.  We believe this will give us a deeper look into how we can possibly further our impact (and the impact of TD and MBCLA) in the years to come.

If you haven’t given your small group leaders your pledge for your small group to sponsor orphans, please do so this week!

(Several people have asked how the time with Steven Curtis Chapman was at my home.  Above is a short but great video that my son, Randall, put together of that magical night with the Chapmans and the leaders of Show Hope)

Please take the time to watch these great videos again (or for the first time), so you can get more familiar with the work we at TD will be joining in via sponsorship and more :
