TD Sat. – SOS Saturday!

images-1

Hey TD!

All year, we’ve been offering opportunities for you to love God by loving your neighbors, especially those close to God’s heart – the orphans and widows.  Not many of you have made the effort to take advantage of the opportunity to bless God’s heart in this way, but you can this Saturday by befriending and hanging out with some wonderful elderly friends.  It’ll be a feel-good time of encouragement, doing what’s right, perspective, and fun.  The residents at the Care Center are so special and rich in heart, you’re sure to be blessed.

We’ll also be visiting our friends at the orphanage and will be playing games and making crafts with them.  God’s heart is especially for the widowed and the fatherless; we have a chance to visit both this Saturday!

For the Care Center, meet at the Hsiehs’ at 9:30 a.m.

For the orphanage, meet at the Hsiehs’ at 12:30 p.m.

Let your small group leader know if you can make it!

Celebrating 1 year together!

Hey TD!

One year ago today, we officially adopted Stella as our daughter.  So today, we celebrated Stella’s adoption day with her favorite food: hot pot! I guess you can get the girl out of China, but you can’t get China out of the girl! 🙂

It’s hard to imagine that it’s already been a full year since we adopted Stella.  It’s been quite an incredible journey of life and love together, and you all at TD have been such an important part of helping her adjust to life in America.  Thank you!

We love having Stella as a full-fledged member of our family; each one of us loves and admires her quite a bit and can’t imagine life without her.  We look forward to what God has in store for us and for her, and we know that you all will have an important role to play in her life as well.

Here’s to new beginnings, God’s grace, and the love of family!

TD Fri. – TD Town Hall – send in your Q’s!

Hey TD!

This Friday is our final Friday meeting of the 2018 – 2019 year!  As is customary, we will finish the year with a town hall Q & A discussion.  Each year, we do it a little differently and this year is no different.  This year, we’d like you to submit questions and topics you’d like for us to discuss.  We will still have an open Q&A time, but questions submitted prior to Friday will get first priority.

You can ask any question or submit any topic for discussion that you’d like.  Our hope is that in doing it this way, there will be a nice balance between answers given on the spot and answers that have been given a bit more thought.  Both are useful.  If you have a particular counselor or intern that you’d like to address your topic or question, just say so.

Submit your questions and topics HERE

See you Friday!

TD Fri. – Engaging With a “Scary” God – Bible Study on 1 Chronicles 13

***Note that TD has moved to the church library across the hall during construction***

Hey TD!

In the final Bible study of the 2018 – 2019 year, Daniel will once again lead us in an interactive, open-ended large group study, similar to last month’s study in Luke 14.  This time, we will work through 1 Chronicles 13 together.

Some say that we shouldn’t fear God, that it’s not healthy nor right.  Others say we should absolutely fear God, and quote the verse, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Should we be more afraid of God than we are today? Or should we be less afraid than we are?  The answer is probably most rightly answered, it depends …

This month, we will discuss the character and nature of God that prompted the Bible to record, “David was afraid of God that day …” Is there actually a right and wrong way to engage with God? Is He to be more feared or loved? Is there an Old-Testament God and a New Testament God? Has His nature changed over the ages?

We encourage you to read through 1 Chronicles 13 (and even the chapters surrounding it), make notes, and prepare to engage with God, alongside your fellow TD’ers.  I’m sure God has something special in store for us.

See you at TD! – Arthur

You Can Help Bring Hope to Orphans in China This Summer

“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.  Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2Cor. 9:6-7

Hey TD!

As you know, we have a team (Calvin, Megan, Sandra, Daniel, Angela, Anabell) going to China this summer to help serve orphans (many of whom have disabilities) and share God’s love with them at a summer camp run by Bring Me Hope (BMH).  Our team will be doing just that, bringing them hope, real hope, God’s hope.

At camp, there will be therapy stations to help kids express themselves and help improve some of their motor, cognitive, sensory processing, and play skills.  The camp is in need of the materials to make this happen.  That’s where you come in.

Even though you won’t be physically going to China yourself, your heart, prayers, and tangible support can go!  Here’s how.

1. Click on the shopping list below and purchase items for our team to bring with them:

Bring Me Hope Summer Camp Wish List

You can bring the items to TD or Sunday School and give them to Megan or Calvin any time in June (the sooner the better).

2. You and your family (or a few fellow TD’ers/friends) can chip in and sponsor a child to go to camp.  The number of sponsorships  are down so far this year from last year, so your help would make a difference for a child!

Sponsor an Orphan

Let’s go and make a difference, TD!  Let’s bring God’s hope and let’s love and give in His most generous Name! It’s not only our duty, it’s our joy!
